Chennai: Four people have been killed so far after a restaurant building collapsed in the Spanish Balearic Islands last night.

A 2-story hotel building collapsed last night on the beach of Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands of Spain. On hearing about the accident, local police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and rescued those trapped in the rubble.

It has been reported that 4 people have died in this building accident so far. More than 15 people have been injured, seven of whom are receiving serious treatment in hospitals in Palma, according to local news channels.

According to the officials, the accident occurred when there were too many people on the hotel terrace and due to which the hotel building collapsed without bearing the weight. Rescuers are searching to see if anyone else is trapped.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident on Palma beach and am closely monitoring the rescue efforts. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said that he wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
